Tehama Wireless Submersible MDT

MDT

Submersible Data Transceiver

Standard, MAX and LoRaWAN® Systems

Product Overview

Our IP68-rated Submersible MDT pairs a MAX-Range-class radio board with a fully epoxy-potted enclosure and sealed lithium battery for true waterproof operation exceeding ten years.

The unit is offered in three radio families—Standard, MAX and LoRaWAN®. Each can be ordered with a single pulse input (code S-P) or a single Sensus/Neptune encoder input (S-E). All versions include an internal temperature sensor. Meter leads are spliced to the MDT’s pre-attached wires using waterproof IDC connectors. A built-in LED shows status; a magnet swipe on the case replaces the push-button of our regular MDTs for test transmissions and link-quality queries.

For pit installations, mount the housing upside-down to the underside of a plastic pit lid using the screw tabs or waterproof adhesive. This places the antenna in an air pocket near the surface for optimal range.

Pulse Wiring

TW-167/177/187 S-P Submersible MDTs

These MDTs have pre-attached wires; splice to the meter leads with waterproof IDC connectors. For pit use, seal the splice inside a grease-filled pod.

Encoder Wiring

TW-167/177/187 S-E Submersible MDTs

Wiring procedure is identical to the pulse version; splice colour-coded leads with waterproof connectors and seal if submerged.

Operation

Swipe a magnet over the marked areas to mimic a button press for test transmission or link-status query; the LED provides the same green/amber/red feedback as regular MDTs.
